The Canadian Bar Association (CBA) is the largest professional association for lawyers in Canada. Established in 1896, CBA is the face, the voice, and the future of Canada’s Lawyers. Canadian Bar Association has the mandate to protect the professional and commercial interests of the legal profession and to promote the rule of law. Over the years, the Bar has become a powerful and credible and voice for legislative, regulatory and policy development in many areas of the law.

The Supporting Inclusive Resource Development project falls under CBA’s international initiatives and is supported by Global Affairs Canada. CBA’s international work supports strengthening the rule of law, contributing to the foundations for a well-functioning rule of law system world-wide. These foundations include an independent legal profession, independent judiciary, transparent and accountable institutions, equality before the law and the dignity of the individual.
